Glide
The smooth ice under
9-inch blades held no resistance. The buzzing lights cracked along with the popping speakers. Music poured out with the shrill call of a violin followed by a smile and a courtesy. Each breath turned lungs to stone as the cold, stale popcorn laid buried beneath bleachers. |
RACHEL FAWCETT is a third-year student in Honours Specialization in Creative Writing, English Language and Literature with a Major in Classical Studies. Throughout her schooling she has developed a love for writing, in particular, poetry. This love first developed in sixth grade when her teacher held a month-long poetry unit where the class learned fifteen styles of poems. Since then she has been writing for school and herself. Her first publication came in seventh grade in the 2012 poetry anthology titled, Hello, Mr. Moon by Young Writers Canada.
