Experimental Poetry:
Hollywood

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  _This poem is made up of the Best Picture winners from the Academy Awards. The lines are taglines from all of the movies that had taglines (a few movies did not have taglines, unfortunately).  I put them in order from the first movie that won best picture to the most recent. It is my hope that the poem reflects Hollywood and its ideals.
The Drama of the Skies

ALL TALKING ALL SINGING ALL DANCING

At last…the motion picture!

Terrific As All Creation

Thank The Stars For A Great Entertainment!

THE PICTURE OF THE GENERATION!

Together for the first time!

A Thousand Hours of Hell For One Moment of Love!

The Last Word In Entertainment!

Here Is True Greatness!

You’ll love them all for giving you the swellest time you’ve ever had!

The greatest romance of all time!

The shadow of a remembered woman came between their lips…but these two had the courage to hope…and to live their love!

Rich is their humor! Deep are their passions! Reckless are their lives! Mighty is their story!

In Her Arms…He Felt A Quiet Peace No Terror Could Disturb

They had a date with fate in Casablanca!

In love with love! Jim Brown and Jean Heather!

The screen dares to open the strange and savage pages of a shocking bestseller!

Filled with all the love and warmth and joy…the human heart can hold!

He thought he had the world by the tail – till it exploded in his face, with a bullet attached!

It’s all about women --- and their men!

What a joy! It’s M-G-M’s Technicolor musical!

Mightiest of Motion Pictures!

Pouring out of impassioned pages…brawling their way to greatness on the screen!

Tender love…terrifying conflict!

It’s the love story of an unsung hero!

See everything in the World worth seeing! Do everything in the World worth doing!

It spans a whole new world of entertainment!

The First Lerner-Loewe Musical Since “My Fair Lady”

It’s an insane world, but still there’s one sanity that remains; the LOYALTY of old friends!!

Movie-wise there has never been anything like it – laugh-wise, love-wise, or otherwise-wise!

The Screen Achieves One of the Great Entertainments in the History of Motion Pictures

A Mighty Motion Picture of Action and Adventure!

The whole world loves Tom Jones!

The loverliest motion picture of them all!

The Happiest Sound In All The World!

… a motion picture for all times!

They got a murder on their hands…they don’t know what to do with it.

Much Much More Than a Musical!

Whatever you hear about Midnight Cowboy is true.

The time is just right for an out and out thriller like this.

An offer you can’t refuse.

…all it takes is a little Confidence.

If he’s crazy, what does that make you?

He’s a has-been battler with one dream left…and one last chance.

A nervous romance.

One of the most important and powerful films of all time!

There are three sides to this love story!

Everything is in its proper place…Except the past.

With Wings on their Heels and Hope in their Hearts

His Triumph Changed The World Forever.

Come to Laugh, Come to Cry, Come to Care, Come to terms.

…Everything you’ve heard is true

Based on a true story.

The first casualty of war is innocence.

He was the Lord of Ten Thousand Years, the absolute monarch of China. He was born to rule a world of ancient tradition. Nothing prepared him for our world of change.

A journey through understanding and fellowship.

The funny, touching and totally irresistible story of a working relationship that became a 25-year friendship.

Inside everyone is a frontier waiting to be discovered.

To enter the mind of a killer she must challenge the mind of a madman.

Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire.

Life is like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get.

The courage to face fear

In love, there are no boundaries.

Collide With Destiny.

Love is the only inspiration

…look closer

A Hero Will Rise.

The Only Thing Greater Than The Power of the Mind is the Courage of the Heart

If You Can’t Be Famous, Be Infamous.

There can be no triumph without loss. No victory without suffering. No freedom without sacrifice.

Beyond his silence, there is a past. Beyond her dreams, there is a feeling. Beyond hope, there is a memory. Beyond their journey, there is love.

Live your life at the point of impact

Cops or Criminals. When you’re facing a loaded gun what’s the difference?

There Are No Clean Getaways

Love and money…You have mixed them both.

You’ll know when you’re in it.

It takes leadership to confront a nation’s fear. It takes friendship to conquer your own.

Who says they don’t make ‘em like they used to!

The movie was fake. The mission was real.

The extraordinary true story of Solomon Northup
