Scott Beckett is currently majoring in History and minoring in Creative Writing. Previous publications include The Rusty Toque and Premier. Samarra Goldglas enjoys reading, writing, and theatre. She has just completed her first year at Western and is pursuing a degree that includes English, French, and Creative Writing. Nicole Hewgill has just finished her first year of study at the Western University. She plans to major in Linguistics with a minor in Spanish Studies. She has been published in the Canadian Anthology of Poetry three times. Helen Hey is a first-year student going into Comparative Literature and Culture. She enjoys the simple beauty of words, and hopes to one day be a full-time writer. Barring that fortunate occurrence, she will settle for continuing to read inspiring books, and writing in her own quiet way. Jessica Hodgson is a student at Western University. Camella Da Eun Kim was born in Busan, South Korea and moved to Canada when she was eleven to learn English. She has recently finished her final year of Honors Specialization in Visual Arts and Media, Information & Technoculture at the University of Western Ontario. A newcomer to Canada herself, Kim often uses language (in the form of text) as a medium for exploring the barriers encountered in the search for social acceptance and a meaningful identity by those who are excluded from the mainstream of society. In her most recent works, she creates deliberate misunderstandings and miscommunication through intentional mistranslation and other such manipulations as word replacement, image distortion, and highlighting forms and shapes in texts. Kim works in a range of media including audio, video, electronic devices such as scanners and computer graphics, and computer printouts. Vincy Wing Sze Kwong is going into her fourth year in Digital Media, Communication & Technoculture as well as Creative Writing. She has always been interested in creative writing and multimedia arts and often likes to merge the two in her projects. Jamie Lively is taking a Minor in Creative Writing at Western University. Julian Michael Majewski is from Toronto and has recently completed the Bachelor of Fine Art program at the University of Western Ontario. Majewski approaches each piece in respect to his varying investigations towards fine are standards, authorities and impacts on the viewer experience. Largely expressing his work through sculpture installation; Majewski avoids depicting concepts as absolutes intending to encourage the viewer to ponder the work within their own authority. Majewski has displayed works throughout various galleries in London ON. such as: The Artlab, McIntosh Gallery, The Arts Project, Art Fusion Gallery, and more recently had work featured at the Anna Leonowens Gallery in Halifax NS. Tommy Nicholls is a second year student at Huron/Western University. He is pursuing an Honors Specialization in English Language and Literature, and a Minor in Writing. Katharine O'Reilly has recently completed her first year of study at Western University. She is enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Laura Panopoulos is graduating from Western University with an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Media, Information and Technoculture, and English. She is a lover of Douglas Coupland, Tennessee Williams and Feminist Theory. Solafa Rawas is a London, Ontario based sculptor. She recently graduated from Western University with a BFA and in the fall will pursue her MFA at Concordia University, Montréal. Rawas lived most of her life in Saudi Arabia, which had tremendous impact on her artistic career. Brendan Scullion is a student at Western University. He is pursuing a Minor in creative writing. Nicole Tan is a 3rd year music major, currently working on Writing Certificate. She's also a columnist and translator for Paramita magazine. |
