Project Description:
In a world where everybody is so desperate to connect, there are those who get lonely. These secluded singles sometimes take to the Internet to fill the void. Websites like Craigslist and Kijiji provide users with the opportunity to post ads seeking sexual companionship or romance in sections generally called Casual Encounters. There is also a section entitled Missed Connections, which allow for users to post ads that mention a person they’d seen previously (usually a stranger), felt they had a connection with, but failed to act on it. Connections takes a combination of these personals with specific omissions to create a collection of poems that communicate the emotional human experience as seen through the veil of technology.
